Svenska utredare identifierade misstänkt sabotage av fiberoptiska kablar i Katrineholms kommun i slutet av april 2025. Incidenterna blev därefter en del av en utredning om åtta misstänkta sabotagebrott begångna i kommunen under april, maj och november. Tre av de åtta fallen ska ha inträffat nära större vägar. I januari 2026 utökade åklagarna sin utredning av en man som redan misstänks för telekommunikationssabotage i Kalmar län till att omfatta dessa incidenter.
