Drone launch strip reported under construction at Russia’s largest attack-drone launch site, with rails oriented towards the Baltic states.
On 20 August 2026, the Ukrainian investigative outlet Slidstvo.Info reported that the drone launch site near Tsymbulova in Oryol Oblast had been expanded with seven 82-metre launch rails for Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-powered drones, four launchers for Geran-3 and three for Geran-2 drones, and that a second launch strip was under construction in summer 2026. According to the analyst cited (from Ukraine’s 412th Nemesis Brigade), the launch rails were oriented north-west, towards Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, rather than towards Ukraine. Expert Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi stated that European countries and Finland would be within range of these systems.
