Mmilitary drone crashes in Luumäki, Finland, following GNSS interference.
On 29 March 2026, a second Ukrainian military drone crashed in southeastern Finland, this time in Luumäki, South Karelia. Finnish police received the report at 12:27 local time, several hours after a separate drone crash north of Kouvola. Investigators found aircraft components on land and ice near the impact area and established a security perimeter while assessing the potential presence of explosives. The incidents prompted a coordinated investigation involving the National Bureau of Investigation, Finnish Border Guard and Defence Forces. Authorities subsequently confirmed that the drone originated in Ukraine and was not intentionally directed toward Finnish territory. Their technical investigation concluded that strong GNSS jamming in the eastern Gulf of Finland, together with southerly winds, had disrupted the aircraft’s intended route. No injuries or property damage were reported.
