Tent camp for about 2,000 soldiers set up at the reactivated Kamenka base on the Karelian Isthmus.
A Planet Labs satellite image of 4 February 2025 showed a tent camp with capacity for about 2,000 soldiers at the Kamenka base on the Karelian Isthmus, according to an SVT analysis published on 10 May 2025. The New York Times reported more than 130 tents at the site in May 2025. Militarnyi, citing European government and intelligence sources, reported in April 2025 that the 138th Motor Rifle Brigade occupies parts of the Kamenka training area. The imagery indicates that the base is being prepared to host a larger ground force near the Finnish border. The facility belongs to the Russian armed forces; the capacity estimate comes from media imagery analysis, and no Finnish or NATO authority has designated this development as a hostile act.
