Drone debris found in Vrancea Country in Romania.
On 18 January 2026, Romanian authorities recovered metallic fragments believed to be from a drone from a household in Tănăsoaia, Vrancea County, in eastern Romania. The Ministry of National Defence sent specialists to investigate the debris, while Romanian radar systems simultaneously detected a group of Russian drones operating in Ukrainian airspace about 10 km north of Romania’s border, during an attack on Ukrainian Danube ports. Two Romanian F-16s were placed on standby but were not launched after the radar targets disappeared. The article notes that this was not the first such incident: a drone had previously crashed in Vaslui County in November 2025, near Puiești. Romanian authorities said that more than 70 drone attacks had occurred near Romania’s border since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
