Repeated unidentified drone overflights target Bundeswehr’s Patriot maintenance and logistics facility in Mechernich.

During the night of 6–7 August 2026, unidentified drones repeatedly flew over the Bundeswehr installation at Mechernich, a particularly sensitive German military logistics site. Private security personnel guarding the facility recorded six separate overflight events between approximately 22:00 and 05:00. This should not be interpreted as six different drones: the Bundeswehr Operational Command subsequently confirmed that two drones had been observed over the installation. After police from the Euskirchen district arrived, officers reportedly witnessed at least one additional overflight themselves, with one drone briefly circling directly above the responding personnel. Bundeswehr military police also observed an aircraft from approximately 40 metres away.
