Drone crosses Moldova and explodes near Hîrbovăț after striking communications mast.

At approximately 05:43 on 30 September 2026, a drone penetrated Moldovan sovereign airspace during a massive Russian aerial attack on Ukraine. Police had received a report minutes earlier that a UAV was flying at low altitude over Bender. The aircraft subsequently reached the area outside Hîrbovăț in Anenii Noi District. It struck a telecommunications mast and exploded approximately 40 metres above ground. Investigators found blast and heat damage along roughly 12 metres of the antenna structure. UAV components were scattered over a radius of approximately 265 metres. Communications services were not interrupted and no casualties were reported. Moldova’s Foreign Ministry condemned the incident as a serious violation of national sovereignty and directly connected the growing danger to Russia’s war and its massive attacks that morning. This was the first of three separate drone violations recorded by Moldova on 30 September.
