Boom barriers deployed at the stalled Russian naval-base project in Ochamchire, occupied Abkhazia (Georgia).

On 4 September 2026, Newsweek published a satellite-imagery review of the port of Ochamchire, where Russia and the de facto Abkhaz authorities announced plans for a permanent Russian naval base in 2023. According to the review, construction during 2025 included a cargo storage shed, a fenced field, concrete foundations and a railway line, but development slowed noticeably in early 2026. Around 50 vessels were moored in the port on 14 January 2026 and were still present on 10 February, but most had left by 21 February. In March 2026, orange boom barriers were deployed in the harbour; they were still visible on 27 August 2026.
