Suspected drone activity near Billund Airport forces temporary closure of Denmark’s second-largest airport.

In the early morning of 25 September 2025, Southeast Jutland Police received a report of suspected drone activity in an area close to Billund Airport, Denmark’s second-largest airport. The observation was reported at 04:21, and airport authorities suspended all flight traffic between 04:30 and 05:41 while police investigated the situation. Police explicitly stated that the reported activity was near the airport rather than on the airport grounds and treated the episode seriously because unauthorised drone operations near airports can pose a risk to aviation. The Billund incident occurred during the same night as confirmed or reported drone activity at Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sønderborg and Skrydstrup, following the major Copenhagen Airport disruption two days earlier. Reuters reported that Billund was closed for approximately one hour and that Danish national police assessed the wider pattern as similar to the preceding Copenhagen episode.
