Five Russian drones make unauthorized flights through Moldovan airspace during a Russian attack on Ukraine.
During the early morning of 27 August, Moldova’s National Army recorded five drone flights through national airspace. The incidents occurred between approximately 03:56 and 06:02 while Russia was conducting a large-scale aerial attack against Ukraine. The first drone crossed from Ukraine near Beleaevka toward Palanca and immediately returned to Ukrainian airspace. A second entered Moldova near Căplani and disappeared from monitoring systems near Carahasani. A third crossed along the Palanca–Crocmaz–Olănești–Purcari–Răscăeți route before disappearing near Pervomaisk. A fourth briefly crossed Moldovan airspace near Palanca before returning toward Ukraine. A fifth crossed near the Săiți–Lesnoe border area and subsequently returned toward Ukraine. Moldovan authorities recorded the flights as unauthorized overflights and stated that they occurred following Russian aerial attacks on Ukraine. The incident is particularly significant because five separate UAV trajectories were recorded within roughly two hours, demonstrating repeated Russian-associated airspace spillover rather than a single accidental crossing.
