Romanian Intelligence Service prevented a sabotage of the warehouse located near critical infrustructure.

In mid-2024, the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) dismantled a Russian-backed sabotage operation targeting critical infrastructure. The Colombian perpetrator, Luis Alfonso Murillo Diosa, was recruited via Telegram and arrived in Romania in late July with pre-assigned targets. He was apprehended while performing detailed surveillance on a recyclable materials warehouse in Bragadiru, near Bucharest. Although the target appeared civilian, its proximity to gas pipelines, oil extraction wells, and telecommunications towers made it a strategic “trigger” for a larger industrial disaster. Investigations revealed that Diosa’s travel and logistics were prepaid by his Russian handlers, to whom he sent “documentation” photos to confirm his progress.
