Unidentified drone crosses Moldova from Tudora to Palanca during Russian strikes on Odesa region.

On 17 September 2026, an unidentified drone entered Moldovan sovereign airspace from the direction of Biliaivka in Ukraine during a major Russian aerial attack on the Odesa region. Moldova’s Air Operations Service recorded the UAV crossing the state border at 08:56 toward Tudora. The drone then travelled across the Moldovan border sector for approximately two minutes. At 08:58, it left Moldovan airspace near Palanca and headed toward Lake Davidove Liman on the Ukrainian side. Moldova’s Ministry of Defence formally described the crossing as unauthorised. Authorities continued monitoring the aircraft but did not report damage or casualties. The ministry did not identify the UAV type or nationality. However, the crossing occurred simultaneously with intensive Russian drone and missile attacks directly across the border in Odesa Oblast. Russian strike UAVs had already repeatedly followed comparable routes through or close to Moldovan territory during September.
