Four drones, including explosive interceptor, discovered near Edighiol–Periboina.
On 11 September 2026, Romanian forces investigating a suspicious object near the Edighiol–Periboina coastal sector located the remains of four aerial drones. The wreckage was identified during reconnaissance conducted with military aviation support. Among the recovered objects was an interceptor-type drone carrying an explosive payload. Romanian explosive-ordnance specialists secured and neutralised the dangerous components. The other wreckage was collected for technical assessment. No casualties were reported. Romanian authorities did not publicly assign a country of origin to the four aircraft. The discovery formed part of an unusual cluster of military-drone recoveries on the Romanian Black Sea coast that day, including explosive material found at Periteașca and additional wreckage at Câșla Vădanei and offshore from Midia. Russia was conducting intensive drone operations in the neighbouring Black Sea and Danube operational area during the same period, while Romania experienced repeated confirmed Russian-linked incursions during September. The combination of military drone types, explosive payloads, location and temporal clustering makes the Edighiol–Periboina incident suitable for Fitting the pattern, but it should remain explicitly separated from officially Russian-attributed cases.
