Drones of unknown origin fly over critical Romanian airbase.

On 15–16 April 2024, unidentified drones were observed flying over the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base in Romania, where construction was underway on what was planned to become NATO’s largest European military base, capable of hosting up to 10,000 personnel. The drones were detected between approximately 22:30 and 00:30, and Romanian Ministry of Defence personnel reportedly electronically neutralised the drones to prevent them from posing a threat to the facility. Romania’s Military Prosecutor’s Office subsequently opened an investigation into the incident.
