A investigação conjunta SVT–NRK–DR–Delfi publicada em 10 de junho de 2026 identificou Sapernoye, a cerca de 80 km (8 mil suecas) da Finlândia, como um local onde veículos militares estavam sendo acumulados. Sapernoye está localizada no istmo da Carélia, ao norte de São Petersburgo, na área voltada para o sudeste da Finlândia. Em reação à investigação, o comandante do Exército finlandês, o tenente-general Pasi Välimäki, declarou que a infraestrutura russa perto da Finlândia poderia acomodar cerca de 80.000 soldados, em comparação com cerca de 20.000 anteriormente. The joint SVT–NRK–DR–Delfi investigation published on 10 June 2026 identified Sapernoye, about 80 km (8 Swedish mil) from Finland, as a site where military vehicles were being accumulated. Sapernoye is located on the Karelian Isthmus, north of St Petersburg, in the area facing south-eastern Finland. In reactions to the investigation, the commander of the Finnish Army, Lt. Gen. Pasi Välimäki, stated that Russian infrastructure near Finland could accommodate around 80,000 troops, compared with about 20,000 previously. Thomas Nilsson, head of Sweden’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (MUST), described the development as a threat to be taken seriously.
