During the first 19 days of August 2026, widespread satellite navigation interference continued across northern Poland, particularly in the Pomeranian region, where monitoring stations recorded substantial disruptions affecting Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals. According to data collected by Poland’s National Institute of Telecommunications, full-scale interference affecting all monitored GNSS frequency bands occurred on approximately 63% of the days during this period. The disruptions affected GPS-dependent civilian equipment, including smartphones, transportation applications, commercial and recreational drones, and potentially maritime and aviation navigation systems. Users experienced unreliable positioning, signal loss, and difficulties obtaining accurate navigation information. The Institute identified the source of interference as external, associated with electronic warfare systems operating in the Baltic Sea region. Experts from Polish research institutions identified Russia’s Kaliningrad region as a principal suspected source of jamming and spoofing activity affecting Polish territory.
