On June 11, NATO fighter jets were alerted to intercept a Russian IL-20 aircraft flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad through international airspace. The aircraft was flying without a filed flight plan and with its transponder switched off, although its crew remained in radio contact with the regional air traffic control centre.
