Un IL-20 russe volait dans l’espace aérien international depuis la Russie continentale vers Kaliningrad.

Le vol a eu lieu le 9 février, lorsque des avions de chasse de l’OTAN chargés de protéger l’espace aérien balte ont été mobilisés après avoir repéré un avion russe IL-20 volant du continent vers l’exclave. Selon le rapport, le transpondeur de bord de l’avion était éteint, l’équipage disposait d’un plan de vol déposé à l’avance, mais maintenait une communication radio avec le centre régional de contrôle du trafic aérien.

The flight happened on February 9 when NATO fighter aircraft safeguarding the Baltic airspace was scrambled when it noticed IL-20 Russian plane flying from mainland to the exclave.
