On 8 April 2022, a Russian government Il-96-300 aircraft was suspected of violating Finnish airspace near Porvoo in the Gulf of Finland, with the alleged incursion lasting approximately three minutes. The aircraft belonged to Russia’s Special Flight Detachment Rossiya, which transports government officials, and flight-tracking data indicated that the aircraft was flying from Berlin toward Russia. AeroTime notes that publicly available ADS-B tracking did not show an actual border crossing, but cautions that transponder data can be inaccurate or manipulated. The incident coincided with a cyberattack on Finnish government websites while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was addressing the Finnish parliament.
