El buque “Jazz” deriva sobre nueve cables submarinos frente al puerto finlandés de Hanko.
El 29 de diciembre de 2024, el petrolero “Jazz” informó de problemas en el motor y redujo la velocidad a 1.6 nudos. Tras reducir la velocidad, empezó a derivar lentamente sobre nueve cables submarinos frente al puerto finlandés de Hanko. Uno de los cables es el cable de comunicaciones C-Lion 1, que conecta Alemania y Finlandia, y que anteriormente había sido dañado por el buque mercante chino Yi Peng 3. Peter Viggo Jakobsen, representante de la Academia de Defensa, sugiere que el petrolero intentaba situarse en la mejor posición para observar los cables o hacer algo con ellos. On 29 December 2024, the oil tanker “Jazz” reported engine problems and slowed to 1.6 knots. After slowing down it began slowly drifting over nine underwater cables off the Finnish port of Hanko. One of the cables is the C-Lion 1 communication cable, which runs between Germany and Finland, and had previously been damaged by a Chinese merchant ship Yi Peng 3. Peter Viggo Jakobsen, representative of the Defense Academy, suggests that the tanker was trying to get the best position to look at the cables or do something about them. The incident continued the following days near Swedish island of Gotland and Denmark islands of Lolland and Bornholm.
