Cazas de la OTAN identifican un Il-20 ruso de Kaliningrado hacia la Rusia continental sobre el mar Báltico
El 5 de septiembre de 2026, cazas de la Policía Aérea del Báltico de la OTAN fueron desplegados para identificar un avión de reconocimiento ruso Il-20 que viajaba desde el óblast de Kaliningrado hacia la Rusia continental. El Ministerio de Defensa Nacional de Lituania afirma que la aeronave permaneció en espacio aéreo internacional durante todo el vuelo reportado. El Il-20 operaba sin transpondedor radar activado y sin plan de vuelo presentado, condiciones que llevaron a los cazas de la OTAN a identificar la aeronave como parte de la misión rutinaria de Policía Aérea del Báltico de la Alianza. La aeronave rusa mantuvo no obstante comunicaciones por radio con el centro regional de control del tráfico aéreo.

On 5 September 2026, NATO Baltic Air Policing fighters were scrambled to identify a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft travelling from Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast toward mainland Russia. The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence states that the aircraft remained in international airspace throughout the reported flight. The Il-20 was operating without an activated radar transponder and without a filed flight plan, conditions that prompted NATO fighters to identify the aircraft as part of the Alliance’s routine Baltic Air Policing mission. The Russian aircraft nevertheless maintained radio communications with the regional air-traffic control centre.
