Drone breaches Romanian airspace near Sulina before being intercepted over Ukraine.
On 2 August 2026, an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle entered Romanian national airspace near Sulina in the Danube Delta during continuing Russian aerial attacks against Ukraine. Romanian defence authorities confirmed the unauthorised crossing and deployed fighter aircraft to monitor the developing situation. According to local reporting citing the Defence Ministry, the drone subsequently crossed back into Ukrainian territory, where Ukrainian air-defence forces shot it down. No casualties, property damage or interception by Romanian forces were reported.
