Explosive drone wreckage destroyed on beach northeast of Elenite resort, Bulgaria.

View this signal on the map

On 1 May 2026, Bulgarian Navy personnel inspected drone wreckage washed ashore on a beach northeast of the Elenite resort. The object was identified as the nose section of an unmanned aerial vehicle containing two battery packs and approximately 200–300 grams of explosive material. Because the debris presented a potential hazard to civilians, a specialised explosive-ordnance team was deployed from Naval Base Burgas. Following an assessment, personnel destroyed the remains at the discovery site under controlled conditions. The operation followed other recoveries of drone components along the Bulgarian coastline in April. Although explosives were confirmed inside the wreckage, officials did not identify the aircraft’s origin, launch location or mission.
