View this signal on the map

On 21 July 2026, vessels participating in the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Naval Group detected a floating object approximately 21 nautical miles east of Ahtopol. The Turkish Navy minehunter TCG Akçay was dispatched to investigate. Divers identified the object as an unmanned aerial vehicle with a damaged wing. Although no externally attached munitions were detected, the inspection could not fully exclude the presence of hazardous material inside its fuselage. The naval group secured the area, diverted nearby vessels and destroyed the drone in a controlled operation. The incident demonstrated the danger posed by military aircraft debris drifting through Black Sea shipping areas. However, the authorities did not identify the aircraft’s model, country of origin or operational purpose.
