Satellitenbilder zeigen zehn große Kasernen im Bau in einer völlig neuen Garnison in Novaya Vilga bei Petrozavodsk.
Am 10. Juni 2026 veröffentlichte Yle den Standort einer neuen Militärgarnison im Bau in Novaya Vilga neben Petrozavodsk. Laut der Bildanalyse von Yle war die Rodung des Waldes erstmals im November 2025 sichtbar, die Erdarbeiten dauerten den Winter 2025–2026 über an, und der Bau der Kasernen begann im Frühjahr 2026. Ein Bild vom 1. Juni 2026 zeigte etwa zehn große Gebäude im Bau. Yle schätzte die Kasernen auf etwa 65 × 24 Meter mit drei bis vier Stockwerken und identifizierte Pläne für ein Verwaltungs-/Stabsgebäude, einen Exerzierplatz, Wohngebäude und Sportanlagen; insgesamt sind mehr als 50 Bauwerke geplant. Ein russischer kommunaler Wasser- und Abwasservertrag vom Februar 2026 (ca. 5,9 Mio. €) wurde ebenfalls mit dem Standort in Verbindung gebracht.

On 10 June 2026, Yle published the location of a new military garrison under construction at Novaya Vilga, next to Petrozavodsk. According to Yle’s imagery analysis, forest clearing was first visible in November 2025, earthworks continued through the winter of 2025–2026, and construction of barracks began in spring 2026. An image of 1 June 2026 showed around ten large buildings under construction. Yle estimated the barracks at about 65 × 24 metres with three to four storeys, and identified plans for an administrative/headquarters building, a parade ground, residential buildings and sports facilities; more than 50 structures are planned in total. A Russian municipal water and sewage contract from February 2026 (c. €5.9 million) was also linked to the site.
